These ideas coming in for the "Cookie for Your Thoughts Giveaway" are awesome!   I love them all and the cookie inspiration is flowing.  There are so many I want to make.  You guys are geniuses! and I love all the friend action going on.  Thank you!  Genius friends are exactly what I need.

I thought I'd share some logo cookies I've made lately.  It's like a little commercial... only cute and edible with sparkles!  Logos are interesting to make on a cookie, because it's all about precision.  It's always a challenge to get it right, especially since cookies aren't exactly the most flat, uniform surface.  There are things called Kopykakes that actually project an image onto the cookie/cake so you can trace it, (how cool is that!?) and it's cookies like these that make me wish I had one.  I'm adding it to my letter to Santa this year.

Cookie for your thoughts!  With cookie-making the sky is the limit when it comes to designing cookies.  I've seen cookies of just about everything from cars to animals, plants, to people, and yesterday I spotted a cigarette butt cookie... no joke!  Mr. John wanted me to make a Charlie Sheen "winning" cookie.  So it got me thinking:  What would you LOVE to see on a cookie?  something maybe you've never seen before in cookie form, but imagine would look amazing.

Here's what you do:

Born to be Wild!

 These are some baby shower cookies I just finished for the remarkable Renee.  She is throwing a baby shower for her friend. 

 Her expectant friend makes cakes and informed Renee that she did NOT want a cake at her shower :D

She thought her friend wouldn't mind some tasty cookies instead.

  I love the jungle theme as it reminds me of when Bailey was a baby.  Her bedroom had a jungle theme, with monkeys swinging on vines above her changing table and lots of animal prints as far as the eye could see.

 I hope the new mommy likes these non-cake treats for her shower!

CSI Dessert Challenge

On Thursday I joined a dessert challenge over at the CSI project dessert challenge .  I entered my Jewel Kade cookies into the fray of lovely lemon blueberry cake, peanut butter buttons, pina colada pie, and many other drool-inducing delicacies that will soon be tested out in my kitchen.  The guest judge was the incredibly talented and amazing Amanda from  I Am Baker

So... guess which dessert won?  I will give you a quote about the winner as a clue:

“Amazing.  I am so impressed by the detail and the hand painted technique and beautiful choice of colors.  These are truly one of a kind pieces of art!”  Amanda raved.  

My charm cookies won!  I am so honored and excited to be the winner!

Today, Mr. John and I are also celebrating our 13th wedding anniversary.  We enjoyed a delicious Thai dinner last night and went to the movies to see Super 8 (which was AMAZING!).  Our 3 kids had a sleepover at grandma and grandpa's so John and I were able to sleep in and go out to a late breakfast and then a stroll through the art studio.  The paintings, photography, and amazing creations there have completely inspired and uplifted me.  What an incredible couple of days!  Ahhh... life is good!

Jewel Kade Cookies, Revisited

Jewel Kade is back on my cookie-making calendar.  Magnificent Maureen emailed me for an order of cookies for a very special Jewel Kade engagement she was planning.  She saw the cookies I made for Cari (read all about them here) and she knew the cookie replicas of JK charms would be perfect for her soiree. 

 There are so many gorgeous charms to choose from.  I'm not a cookie-cutter type gal... well, I guess I am, but you know what I mean!  I wanted a variety, so I painted some favorites on my cookies and shipped them out.

If I HAD to choose a favorite it would definitely be the key... no the crown.  Oooh, but I LOVE the rose one. 

I have the owl charm in non-cookie real-life charm form and I adore him.  Not as tasty as the cookie version, but über cute!

Seriously, if you like the look of these cookies you will LOVE the actual charms.  Go check them out!  (I am in no way affiliated with Jewel Kade other than that I am in love with their jewelry and I am lucky enough to have met some lovely ladies who sell the line, who like cookies.)

KEEP CALM AND TEACH ON

Can you believe it?  A non-cookie related post???  I have lots of those coming up as this week was full of cookie-making goodness, but we'll take this break from our regularly scheduled programming to share this latest project:

School is almost out and Marvelous Miss Monica asked me to help her with this gift for her child's yoga-loving teacher.  She had all the kids in the class sign a yoga mat and then turned it over to me and my trusty sharpie to add the Keep Calm logo.  I love how personalized and useful it is.  Way to think outside the box!

Tie-dye Birthday Cookies

My oldest entered the 2 digit world on Saturday.  She is now 10 years old!  She is an amazingly talented, spunky little girl and I wanted to make cookies that truly expressed her personality.  She loves tie-dye and bright colors so I thought tie-dye cookies would be perfect.  The only problem was I've never made a tie-dye shirt, let alone tie-dyed cookie!  I did a quick search and whattya know?  I found this amazing tutorial from the lovely blog of Sweet SugarBelle   It showed step by step how to make a tie-dye cookie.  I tweaked it a little and tweaked some cookies a lot for variety and they all came out so great!  For half the cookies I painted portraits of Bailey in her tie-dyed shirt.

Bailey's class absolutely went crazy over them.  I'm sure it also helped that I arrived right as they were supposed to take a spelling quiz and the teacher decided to cancel the quiz so we could pass out cookies.  Apparently I have excellent timing.  The kids all compared the coolness of their cookies, "Mine is cooler than yours!" and there were some, "I can't eat this!"  I'm so happy with how they came out and how very "Bailey" they were.

We extended the celebration by going to Anaheim for an Angel's game on Monday and Knott's Berry Farm on Tuesday.  We had so much fun!  Happy Birthday Bailey!

Love Nest Bridal Luncheon Cookies

These cookies just make me happy.  The lovely Lissa gave me full creative control over these puppies for a bridal luncheon she was attending.  I literally watched the sun come up while I was decorating these and I couldn't bring myself to do two of the same cookie.   Every time I make a batch of cookies, I learn something new.  On this batch, I learned something new with every cookie.

Speaking of learning something new, I just finished a batch of special birthday cookies for my oldest daughter's birthday and I tried out a new technique.  She's TEN tomorow!  I'll be posting some very colorful cookies soon.
